Associate Professor of MSU Serhii Pakhomenko met with the President of the Polish Society of Political Scientists and gave a lecture

In the framework of the scientific internship in Poland, the associate professor of the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of Mariupol State University Serhii Pakhomenko met with Director of the Institute of Political Sciences of the University of Warmia and Mazury (Olsztyn), President of Polish Society of Political Scientists, Professor, Dr. Habilitated by Arkadiusz Zukowski.

Representatives of various national-cultural associations and foreign citizens living in Mariupol, joined the presentation of the culture of their nations. Mariupol State University is known for its dynamic international activities, represented by 11 countries: Nepal, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Guinea, Hungary, Ghana, Nigeria, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan.

 

Serhii Pakhomenko told his Polish colleague about Mariupol and the university and later the scholars discussed the prospects of scientific cooperation and the signing of agreement between the Institute of Political Science of the University of Warmia and Mazury and Mariupol State University. At the end of the meeting, Professor Zukovsky presented the library of Mariupol State University with his books that were specialized literature on party and political life of modern Poland and its policy of historical memory to the scientific library of the Mariupol State University.

 

Also, while in Poland, Associate Professor of Mariupol State University Serhii Pakhomenko delivered an open lecture for students majoring in National Security of the University of Warmia and Mazury. Communication with the students took place with the assistance of the supervisor of a scientific internship, member of the Department of Security Policy and Civilizational Threats at the Institute of Political Sciences of the University of Warmia and Mazury, Dr. Krzysztof Zengota.

 

During the lecture, Serhii Pakhomenko highlighted the issues of Ukrainian-Polish relations, historical policy (memory policy) and regional security issues in the context of the conflict in the East of Ukraine. Polish young people have shown particular interest in the issues of historical politics in Ukraine and initiated discussions on the acute historical issues in Ukrainian-Polish relations.

 

Meetings and lectures by Serhii Pakhomenko in Poland took place within the framework of the second stage of the scientific internship organized for the winners of Ivan Vyhovsky Award. The Award is awarded by the Centre for East European Studies of the University of Warsaw (under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland) for the significant contribution of Ukrainian citizens to the development of science, culture, public life and the construction of a democratic state.
