On April 5th-6th the students majoring in Language and Literature (Italian) were given an opportunity to attend lectures given by Carlo Illuminati, Professor of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. This outstanding philologist paid his visit to Mariupol State University in the framework of the related agreement with University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. The visit became possible due to the support rendered by Embassy of Ukraine to Italy. Carlo Illuminati participates in the Doctorate programs in Italian studies at Philology and Philosophy Department of University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and takes a great interest in the Ukrainian culture and its propaganda in Italy. The lectures given by the Italian professor were concerned with such themes as “Barbarity, tyranny and slavery in Italy described by Dante do Verdi. Autobiography of the nation through the literary legacy of its most prominent authors” and “History and lexis meant to describe love in the lyrics by Petrarch”. The students took a great interest in the lectures, being actors declaiming literary texts written by such great Italian authors as Petrarch, Dante, Manzoni and others. Professor Carlo Illuminati became the first foreign lecturer to visit and to pay his highest compliments to the activities carried out by Italian Language, Literature and Culture Chair. The Chair was established in January 2012. At the present time, it is the only academic chair in Ukraine that combines the linguistic and the cultural approaches to Italian studies. | |
