“Classes at the contemporary art gallery “Hamburger Bahnhof” were the most memorable experience”

Sofiia Lobanova, the fourth-year student of Mariupol State University majoring in German language and Literature, did an internship at the Institute of International Communication in Berlin.

This spring, Sofia became the winner of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) competition and received a scholarship to study in Germany.

This great experience was a lot of fun. The training schedule was very tense, but it only increased the desire to study. The course was very busy and a lot of attention was paid to the grammar of the German language. However, the most unforgettable were classes at the Hamburger Bahnhof, a contemporary art gallery. Students had to make a report on the artwork of one of modern photographers or artists and defend it when studying the gallery, which turned out to be enormous. It was also interesting to find out about new trends in art, which have a significant impact on society,

- said the student.

12 people from Ukraine, China, Mexico and other countries participated in the international program. Within three weeks, the students got familiarized with German culture and daily life, worked on projects on social and political topics, discussed social equality, culture and the future.

Over the past three years, 16 students from Mariupol State University got a chance to participate in DAAD programs.
