Folk dance ensemble "Promin" and vocalists of Mariupol State University Anna Shybaeva and Maksym Kostenko participated in the XIV Mediterranean Folk Dance Festival, which took place in Larnaca (Republic of Cyprus) from 13 September to 17 September. The event was hosted by the Nicosia Cultural Heritage Association with the support of Larnaca City Hall.

Dance groups from Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Egypt, Israel, Latvia, the Republic of Cyprus and Ukraine took part in the festival. The dance Ensemble "Promin" of Mariupol State University was the only group to represent Ukraine. The trip was organized with the assistance of the Rector of MSU Professor Kostyantyn Balabanov, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Mariupol and Dmitro Yakushev, Cypriot businessman who was born in Mariupol.

At the opening of the festival, which took place in the capital of Cyprus - Nicosia, the guests were greeted by Reya Ioannidou, the President of Nicosia Cultural Heritage Association, Leoni Orfanidou, the President of Nicosia Municipality Culture Committee and Konstantynos Yorkatzis, the Mayor of Nicosia. Traditionally, the festival began with a solemn procession of participants in the city, after which the teams presented their dance programs to the audience. The festival continued in Larnaca, where the participants introduced locals to the culture of their countries during three days.

For the international festival the participants of the dance ensemble "Promin" and vocalists of the University have prepared three bright 10-minute-concert programs: "Greeting program", "Ukrainian wedding" and "My Ukraine" (dances from different regions). The team started preparing for the trip to Cyprus in spring - the leaders of the ensemble Kateryna Pupyreva and Olexiy Kovalev worked out on new performances, carefully selecting the choreography and musical accompaniment, taking into account the peculiarities of different regions of Ukraine. The trainings took place four times a week, and during the last week before the trip they trained daily.

Cypriot viewers warmly and emotionally met the performances of the creative youth of MSU, who presented the diversity of national culture with the help of vocal and dance performances. Representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Cyprus personally congratulated the leaders of the dance ensemle "Promin" Kateryna Pupyreva and Olexiy Kovalev at the ceremony of the completion of the festival, noting the high level of professionalism of the team members.
