On September 14th Professor Kostyantyn Balabanov – Rector of MSU – participated in the meeting of Association of the Partner Higher Educational Establishments of Russian Federation and Ukraine, held in Kiev within the framework of Days of Russian Education and Science in Ukraine.

Famous scientists and rectors of the two countries’ leading universities met at that scientific and educational forum. Association of the Partner Higher Educational Establishments of Russian Federation and Ukraine had been founded in September, 2011. MSU is one of its founders. The main areas of activities are:

• assistance to a multi-format collaboration between universities in Russia and Ukraine, including development and implementation of joint international research projects, exchange of the best research and educational practices,
• coordination of work in educational and methodological, research and public activities carried out by universities of Russian Federation and Ukraine, implementation of joint innovative and educational projects.

The aim of the meeting was the discussion of new joint projects fostered by the two countries and development of cooperation in science and education. The participants of the meeting had an opportunity to see the project of Pedagogic Constitution of Europe proposed by European University Rectors Association, based upon the principle of coordinated trance-university policy in the field of pedagogic education.

At the end of the meeting, Charter of Association of the Partner Higher Educational Establishments of Russian Federation and Ukraine was adopted. The coordinative body, composed of rectors of institutes of higher education of the both countries was appointed.

The plans of the Association’s activities are to specify the role of higher education and science in modernizing the economies of Ukraine and Russia, to organize international cooperation and co-partnership with Eurasian and European university associations as well as with other international associations that coordinate activities in the field of higher education, to maintain and develop the common educational area, to ensure equivalence and mutual acceptance of diplomas issued by institutes of higher education-members of the Association.

The participants of the meeting had a more particular discourse during a round-table discussion "Prospective areas of Russia-Ukraine cooperation in the field of higher education and university science”.
