Days of Ukrainian Language and Culture in Komotini(Greece): scholars from MSU introduced Ukraine and Mariupol to the international community
From May 25th till May 27th, the Days of Ukrainian Language and Culture took place at the premises of Democritus University of Thrace in the Greek city of Komotini, organized with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Hellenic Republic and the Consulate of Ukraine in Thessaloniki. The cultural event was held within the framework of the international conference with the participation of scholars of Mariupol State University. They told the international community about Ukraine, its history and culture.
At the beginning of the event, the anthems of Ukraine and Greece were played, and the flags of both countries were set on the stage. Then the visitors had an opportunity to watch the film, which showed them Ukraine, Mariupol and Mariupol State University.
The film was prepared by the delegation of Mariupol State University which came to Greece. Particular attention was paid to the European integration movement in Ukraine and Mariupol, as well as the role of Mariupol State University in this process, which was noted by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during his visit to the university. He emphasized: "Mariupol State University has long and purposefully worked to enhance the image of Mariupol and Ukraine abroad, actively supporting the European integration aspirations of the Ukrainian state."
The program of the Days of Ukrainian Language and Culture included meetings with representatives of the international community, within the program of which, rector of Mariupol State University Kostyantyn Balabanov and university scholars talked about the current situation in Ukraine and the implementation of reforms aimed at activating the European integration movement of the state. Special attention was paid to long-standing friendly relations and cultural ties between the peoples of Ukraine and Greece.
