Last week the second conference of the DESTIN international project "Journalism Education for Democracy in Ukraine: Development of Standards, Integrity and Professionalism" was held at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The project is implemented within the frameworks of the European Union Erasmus + program with the participation of the leading experts from the universities of Great Britain, Poland, Ireland, Sweden and Ukraine, including Mariupol State University as well as professional organizations from the Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands and Ukraine.

During the conference, the representatives of the European universities and organizations and delegates from ten Ukrainian higher educational institutions discussed the issues on adaptation of Ukrainian educational programs in journalism to the national European qualifications framework, based on the audit of curricula and work programs. The scholars paid a great attention to the issues of interaction with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the main stakeholders and the topic of partnership between Ukrainian and European universities. 

Professor Mykola Trofymenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Affairs (International Cooperation) of Mariupol State University, Professor Svitlana Bezchotnikova, Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Mass Communications and Oleksiy Chyshevych, assistant of the Social Communications Department took part in the discussion.

Svitlana Bezchotnikova, coordinator of the project from Mariupol State University took on the role of a speaker and moderator of an opening discussion on further planning of work within the frameworks of the project, which was attended by the representatives of Ukrainian higher educational institutions. Mykola Trofymenko organized the work of the panel within the frameworks of the the section on training groups for the development of educational programs and the discussion of the plans for internal study.

The result of the conference was the approval of a university action plan within the frameworks of further implementation of the project.
