Within the frameworks of the Erasmus+ academic mobility program, professors of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Department of Mariupol State University, gave lectures at the Democritus University of Thrace (Greece) during the week.
Professor Olena Pavlenko, associate professors Natalya Voevutko and Natalya Marahovska gave the course of lectures on multicultural education, intercultural communication and translation and the methods of teaching languages.
Also during the visit there were meetings of the teachers of Mariupol State University with Professor Zoi Gavriilidu, the vice-rector on the academic work of Democritus University of Thrace, Professor Maria Dimasi, the head of the department of languages, literatures and cultures of the Black Sea countries and professor Elefteris Haratsidis, the head of the Russian philology sector, doctor of historical sciences, ethnographer, as well as the lecturers and students of the university.
The issues on university education of both countries and prospects of further cooperation between Mariupol State University and Democritus University of Thrace were discussed within the frameworks of the signed agreement, in particular the organization of the study of students of philological and pedagogical majors of Mariupol State University on the basis of the Greek University, as well as an internship of MSU teachers of philology and teachers of the Modern Greek language of Mariupol secondary education institutions. It was agreed that next academic year philologists of Democritus University of Thrace will give lectures to the students of Mariupol State University.
Besides, the teachers of the MSU put forward an initiative to open the Center of Ukrainian Language and Culture at the Democritus University of Thrace.This proposal aroused an interest and support from the administration of the Greek University.
We remind you that currently Anna Shaban and Anastasia Chernikova, the students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Department, study at Democritus University of Thrace, while Yannis Tsirimyagos, the student of this university studies at Mariupol State University.
