On September 13, Georgis Pukamissas, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to Ukraine visited Mariupol State University. His term of appointment in Ukraine will be ended soon. 

For his fruitful cooperation in the field of education, science and culture, Professor Kostyantyn Balabanov, Rector of MSU, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Mariupol, presented the diplomat with the Medal for Merit to MSU.
 

The Embassy of Greece, headed by Georgis Pukamissas, fully supported Mariupol State University on the way to developing cooperation with the Hellenic Republic. Nowadays, MSU implements 14 contracts with Greek partners, including Greece's leading universities. Within the frameworks of these agreements, professors and students of the university regularly participate in educational, scientific and cultural internships in Greece.

The Institute of Ukrainian-Greek Friendship and Hellenistic Studies and a unique library of Hellenistic Studies named after Kostyantynos Levendis operates on the basis of the only faculty of Greek philology and Translation in Ukraine. With the assistance of the Embassy of Greece, the University has repeatedly received scientific and fiction books from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic.

Kostyantyn Balabanov thanked Georgis Pukamissas for his contribution to the development of international cooperation of the University and wished him great success in the further diplomatic activity.
