10:30 Language training in Italy: MSU students visited the University of Basilicata (Italy) | |
| Hanna Titova and Yevheniia Halka, MSU third-year students majoring in Italian Language and Literature, and Hanna Rudnytska, Associate Professor of MSU, PhD in Social Communications, participated in an educational internship at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Basilicata (Italy) that lasted from February 21 to March 17. They were the first representatives of Mariupol State University to visit this University. This internship was held within the framework of the Agreement on Cooperation between the University of Basilicata and Mariupol State University signed last year.
Within a three-week program, MSU students took part in a specialized course of Italian for foreigners. They also visited lectures in Italian linguistics of Professor P. Del Puente which are obligatory for students majoring in philology at the University of Basilicata. Hanna Rudnytska held a seminar devoted to Ukraine for Italian students. She briefly described geographic, demographic, historical, and cultural prerequisites of the country’s development, focusing on Donetsk region and functions of Mariupol State University in this multicultural region. She said, ‘I had a unique opportunity to inform the participants about my country, my region and my University. It is noteworthy that the Italians were very interested in the subject of this seminar. Culture exchange events of this kind are of great importance; they enrich the worldview of the foreign students and enable us to be the guides to the Ukrainian culture and spirituality abroad. Paolo Masullo, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, in his turn expressed his hopes for deeper cooperation between the University of Basilicata and Mariupol State University in the field of joint programs aimed at exchange of experience and techniques of teaching Italian language and literature to foreigners. During their stay in Italy, MSU representatives visited the Institute "Nitti-Falcone"; the students of this Institute also attended the seminar about Ukraine. Director of the Institute Debora Infante led a tour of the educational institution, emphasizing the activities of the European center which coordinates the implementation of the ERASMUS and ERASMUS+ programs. Upon the completion of the language training the participants received certificates certifying the increase of their Italian proficiency level. | |
