Lidiia Shevchenko, Head of the International Relations Department of MSU, attended NATO Headquarters in Brussels

Last week The NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Ukraine (NIDC) arranged the trip to Brussels (the Kingdom of Belgium) for 20 representatives of Ukrainian higher educational establishments and for public figures, who address the issue of the international cooperation issues, European integration processes, security problems and also the problems of cooperation between Ukraine and NATO. Lidiia Shevchenko, the head of the International Relations Department of Mariupol State University, was a representative of Ukrainian delegation.

Ukrainian delegation attended NATO Headquarters and Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). Also the program of a visit included briefings with the representatives of the departments and offices of the Organization and SHAPE, namely: Peter Lunyak, the Deputy head of the Department of NATO's cooperation with states-partners and member states, Florian Enke, the representative of NATO's Political Relations Management, Vadym Prystaiko, Ambassador, Head of the Mission, Ukraine’s Mission to NATO, Igor Loza, the First Secretary of the Military Mission of Ukraine to NATO and others.

 

Ukrainian scientists discussed with foreign experts North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s principles of work and the perspectives of the Ukraine's accession to NATO. The NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme whithin the frameworks of which universities can win a grant for establishing international cooperation and conducting research arouse educator’s special interest.

 

According to the results of Lidiia Shevchenko’s visit to Brussels, the university made new contacts with domestic and foreign partners. Among the immediate plans is continuing the cooperation with the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine (NIDC) and preparing of the materials for the grant under the Science for Peace and Security Programme.
