Members of English speaking clubs opened festive season and got familiarized with Massachusett

On November 30, the Window on America information resource center which operates on the basis of the scientific library of Mariupol State University held a regular meeting of the English Speaking Club Teens.

During the class, the volunteer center, an English teacher Natalia Yukhymenko familiarized the school students with Massachusetts. Members of the class learned that this is the state which gave start to the history of Thanksgiving in the United States, why Massachusetts has several names and the state flag depicts an Indian with a bow and arrow. The school students also watched a video about the most interesting facts and places of Boston, the largest city in the state of Massachusetts.


The grammatical part of the lesson was devoted to learning rules of formation and use of Past Simple Tense and the doing practical exercises to consolidate the material covered.


Members of the English Speaking Movie Fans Club led by the volunteer of the center, senior lecturer of the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation of MSU Yana Panova opened the festive season. For two months, they will watch movies that create a Christmas mood.


The first film in this collection was the romantic comedy «You've Got Mail» with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in the leading roles. The film inspired the club members to discuss the following questions: whether romance or pen pals are possible, whether flirting on the Internet is cheating, how important are common interests in family life.


During the game "My Three" participants talked about three of their favorite books and found out that despite the different literary tastes, for all those present the book is still an important part of life.
