On May 25, at the Mariupol State University, on the basis of the Window to America Center, a meeting of the English Speaking Movie Fans Club was held under the guidance of Yana Panova, assistant professor of the Theory and Practice of Translation Department. This time, the members of the club watched and discussed the film by American director Gus Van Sant, «Good Will Hunting».
The movie makes the 250 best movies by version of IMDb and raises an important problem – the problem of choice: to live according to the wishes of others or to be guided by your own ones? A difficult dilemma that the protagonist decides in his favor caused a lively discussion: someone from the audience supported the earthly desires of Will and someone did not agree with his decision to renounce his gift. The members of the club discussed these and other issues in the Face-to-face format. The evening of serious topics was over with the games from the book «Activate games for learning American English».
Also this Saturday, the members of the English Speaking Club Teens continued to get acquainted with the states of America. Natalia Yukhymenko, a volunteer of Mariupol «Window to America» Center and a teacher of English told students about the Texas.
The young members of the club learned about the natural and geographical features of the state, its capital, the flag and parallel names, as well as gastronomic preferences Texans and humorous rules of their lives. A bright addition to the story of the volunteer center were thematic videos, and the games such as «Bingo», «Assossiation games» and «Activate games helped to keep in mind the learned material».
