Head of the Department of Italian Philology of Mariupol State University Hanna Tryfonova took part in the international workshop "Dante in Ukrainian literature (cultural Italian-Ukrainian relations)".
The event was held at the University of Florence an the initiative of the Italian Association of Ukrainian studies and the Embassy of Ukraine in the Italian Republic.
Hanna Tryfonova was the only representative of the Ukrainian academic community invited to participate in the international meeting which testifies to the recognition of MSU as a leading center for research on Ukrainian and Italian cooperation. At the workshop, she highlighted the topic "The Image of Italy in the interpretation of Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi" drawing attention to the writer's impressions of his travels in Italy and his impressionistic artistic manner.
The famous Ukrainian translator of Italian literature Mariana Prokopovych told about the current state and prospects of Italian and Ukrainian translations in Ukraine. Among the speakers were also Professor of The Sapienza University of Rome Oksana Pakhlovska, Professor of the University of Milan Giovanna Brogi, Professor of the University of Florence Giovanna Siedina whose speeches were devoted to the Ukrainian language in Italian culture.
To commemorate this international event Oksana Pakhlovska and Giovanna Brogi made a dedicatory inscription in their joint monograph on the works of Taras Shevchenko, which is actively used in the preparation of the students studying Italian at MSU.
