MSU received books from the Consulate General of the Hellenic Republic

The Fund of the Library of Hellenistic Studies named after Konstantin Levendis of Mariupol State University was replenished with nearly 80 copies of books in Greek language. Such a gift to the university was made by the Consulate General of the Hellenic Republic in Mariupol.

Mrs. General Consul Eleni Georgopoulou presented belles-letters and scientific literature from the Athens Academy, the National Library of Greece and the National Book Center of Greece. She asked for MSU students to use the books not only for gaining knowledge, but also for developing critical thinking skills.


Professor Konstantin Balabanov, Rector of Mariupol State University, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Mariupol, thanked Eleni Georgopoulou for the significant contribution to the library, which is actively used by students of various faculties of MSU as well as students and researchers from other Ukrainian universities.


The Library of Hellenistic Studies named after Konstantinos Levendis was created at the Faculty of Greek Philology and Translation in 2006 with the support of the Anastasios G. Levendis Foundation (Cyprus). Todaythere are more than 17,000 books in Modern Greek, English, German, Italian, Latin, including rare copies from the personal library of the Director of the Charalambos Bakirdzis Foundation.
