MSU received over hundred books from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece

Over 120 copies of books in Greek enriched the Fund of The Library of Hellenistic Studios "Konstantinos Leventis" of the Mariupol State University. This university received such a present from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic at the initiative of the General Secretariat for the Affairs of the Greeks of foreign countries.

Modern textbooks, scientific and belles-lettres works were presented to the university by Eleni Georgopoulou, the Consul General of the Hellenic Republic in Mariupol. She noted that it was a great opportunity to show the high level of relations between Greece and the University, the Faculty of Greek Philology and Translation, professors and students.

 

"The level of each library depends not so much on the number of literature available in it, but on its quality. Therefore, we consider it our duty not only to increase the library fund, but also to provide books that will expand the horizons of students ", - noted Consul General .

 

Constyantyn Balabanov, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Mariupol, expressed his gratitude to Eleni Georgopoulou, Georgios Pakamissas, Ambassador of Greece to Ukraine, the Greek Foreign Ministry and the General Secretariat for the Affairs of the Greeks of foreign countries for the significant contribution to enriching the library, which is actively used by students of various faculties of Mariupol State University as well as students and researchers from other Ukrainian universities.

 

The "Konstantinos Leventis" Library was founded at the Faculty of Greek Philology and Translation in 2006 with the support of the "Anastasios G. Leventis" Foundation (Cyprus). Today it contains over 17,000 books in Modern Greek, English, German, Italian and Latin. Some examples of rare books came from the personal library of Charalambos Bakerdis, the Fund Director.
