MSU signed Agreement on Cooperation with the Center of Strategic Research “Strategy International”
Press conference of Professor Kostyantyn Balabanov – Rector of Mariupol State University and Consul Honorary of Republic of Cyprus in Mariupol, was held at Mariupol State University on the occasion of signing Agreement on Cooperation with the International Center of Strategic Research “Strategy International” on September 20th, 2012.
Doctor Marios Efthymiopoulos – President of Strategy International, and Dimitrios Papandreou – Consul General of Hellenic Republic in Mariupol also participated in it.
Strategy International is a non-commercial international organization with headquarters in Thessaloniki (Greece). The organization was founded 6 years ago and nowadays it has its centers and offices in many countries of Western Europe and America. The leading experts, scholars of authority and specialists in the field of political science, international relations, economics and business are the members of this organization.
The Center carries out research in the field of international cooperation, security, cultural diplomacy, innovative technologies in social networks, international political economy, environmental protection, etc. It also contributes to creation, formation and implementation of innovative policies on the national, international and global levels.
As is predicted by the EU and the USA Foreign Affairs Ministries, the world is on the threshold of global geopolitical changes. Under these conditions, many experts accentuate the considerable role of Ukraine in these processes. Therefore Strategy International is interested in its presence in our country.
Mariupol State University, which is well-known in Europe due to its international relations, was chosen to be the first partner of Strategy International in Ukraine. That was Doctor Efthymiopoulos’s first visit to MSU. His two-day long program of stay (September 19th-20th) was eventful and included familiarization with the university, delivering lectures to students (in English) and signing Agreement on Cooperation.
In accordance with the Agreement, MSU in joint effort with Strategy International will set up a research center that will unite leading experts from the both institutions and develop joint programs, including English master programs on topical problems of international relations, security, political institutions and processes, etc.
The Agreement stipulates joint conferences, workshops, summer schools and exchange of their foreign partners’ contacts and published works for media buying.
After the press-conference Doctor Efthymiopoulos met the University’s students within the framework of the prescheduled lecture “Financial crisis control: potential for development though awareness of international political economy”.
Doctor Efthymiopoulos had positions of a visiting scientist in the Center of Transatlantic Relations in John Hopkins University in Washington, a visiting senior researcher of Business School of George Washington University. He was a grant holder of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (Washington D.C., the USA), and also a constantly visiting lecturer of the Political and Social Studies Chair of University of Cyprus (Nicosia, Cyprus). Doctor Efthymiopoulos is a constantly visiting researcher of Hellenic Joint Military College, NATO Training Center, etc. He is a graduate of NATO Defense College (NADEFCOL) 2004–2005 (Rome, Italy). He was appointed by Foreign Affairs Minister of Hellenic Republic into NATO mission in Rome, worked in the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on biotechnology and biosafety problems as a political and financial analyst in Chicago (Illinois, the USA).
