From August 31st to September 3rd, the 4th German-Ukrainian Writers' Meeting "Paper Bridge" took place in Mariupol. The partner of the project was Mariupol State University.
The international project "Paper Bridge" program also included a lecture by Serhii Pakhomenko, Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations and Foreign Policy of Mariupol State University. His report "Mariupol: the discovery of identity. Society, politics and historical memory in the front-line city "sparked a lot of interest among both locals and foreign visitors.
Olha Demidko, MSU graduate who majored in History, Ph.d. student, arranged an excursion around Mariupol for Ukrainian and German artists which was equally interesting. She talked about the German "marks" made in the history of the city and she showed relevant architectural monuments.
The final point of the program was a reception organized by the Consulate General of Germany in Donetsk (with an office in the Dnieper). Iryna Petrova, Deputy Head of Vice-rector for Scientific and Pedagogical work, Olena Pavlenko, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages , Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Marina Marchenko and Julia Kazhan, Deputy Head of the Department of German and French Philology were invited to the event. They discussed the prospects for further cooperation of Mariupol State University with Germany during the conversation with the Deputy Consul General, Peter Schmal.
