MSU students to undertake internships in Italy

Representatives of the U.C.M. - Italy "Mediterranean Chefs Union - Italy" (Foggia, Italy) visited Mariupol State University on 7 May in order to sign a five-party convention for sending university students for internship.

The meeting was attended by the Rector, Professor Mykola Trofymenko, the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Associate Professor Hanna Tryfonova, the Head of the Department of Management, Professor Anzhelika Balabanyts and representatives of the association led by President Paolo Brescia.

As part of the convention, 14 students in “Tourism”, “Management”, “Translation (Italian)” and “International Relations” will travel to the Italian hospitality industry for a three-month internship. Young people will try their hand as assistant cooks, waiters, barmen, administrators in Italian hotels and restaurants in resort towns.

An important requirement for the selection of candidates is knowledge of Italian, which MSU students study not only as a first language but as a second and third foreign language. Rector Mykola Trofymenko noted that the possibility of an internship in Italy will help draw the attention of future applicants to the professional study of the Italian language at Mariupol State University.

Last year, the university and the chefs' union signed a bilateral cooperation agreement, thanks to which MSU students received internships in Italy. The internships allowed the girls not only to improve their conversational Italian, but also to get to know the local flavour.
