MSU students took part in the international project "NATO @ 70" in Portugal

Anastasia Kucherenko ("International Relations") and Katerina Chulska ("Political Science"), students of the Faculty of History of Mariupol State University visited Portugal within the frameworks of the project "NATO @ 70", dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the creation of NATO.

The project is organized by the University of Porto with the support of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The aim was to show young people how dangerous are the hybrid methods of warfare. 75 young leaders from 19 European countries participated in educational events.

Participants of the project attended lectures of the leading researchers of hybrid threats in the modern world. One of the lecturers was Andrew Karakuts, the senior research scientist of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, who told European students about Russian aggression in Ukraine.

The main stage of the project was the simulation game "Combating Hybrid Threats: NATO's Mission for the XXI Century", during which the youth learned how to oppose fake news, provocations as well as conflicts by means of diplomacy and negotiations.

Besides, within the frameworks of celebration of the anniversary of NATO creation, MSU students met with Anatoliy Koval, the Consul of Ukraine in Porto.
