This week, Maria Dimasi, Head of the Department of Language, Literature and Culture of the Black Sea region of the Democritus University of Thrace and Professor Angelika Muzakiti visited Mariupol State University.
Within the frameworks of the Erasmus + Academic Mobility Program, professors of the Greek University gave lectures for students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of Greek Philology and Translation. During the classes, students learned about modern approaches to learning foreign languages, got acquainted with the scientific and cultural activities of Greek higher education, in particular, the department of language, literature and culture of the Black Sea region.
Negotiations between the professors of the Democritus University of Thrace with the Rector of MSU, Professor Kostyantyn Balabanov, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Mariupol and Professor Olena Pavlenko, the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages were fruitful. Important agreements were reached on further active cooperation in teaching Greek and English languages, including the joint publication of textbooks on Greek language.
In addition, Maria Dimassi expressed her intention to encourage students of Mariupol State University to study at summer language camps in Greece, as well as to award scholarships for the Democritus University of Thrace to study at MSU Master's Degree program. Participation of PhD students in academic mobility programs at a Greek university was also discussed.
