On December 4, the Ukrainian-British forum "Excellence of teaching and learning in higher education" was held in Kiev, which was attended by the Dean of the faculty of Foreign Languages of Mariupol State University, Professor Olena Pavlenko and Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation Olena Peftiieva.

The forum is the first event in a number of events of the new three-year Ukraine Higher Education Teaching Excellence program. The event aimed to establish a national platform for professional discussion and exchange of best practices of teaching and learning in Ukrainian universities.

The forum was attended by ex-Minister of education and science of Ukraine Liliia Grynevych, rectors, vice-rectors, heads of departments, leading scientific and pedagogical workers of higher education institutions and experts who are actively involved in the process of improving teaching and professional development of University teachers.

The participants of the forum got acquainted with the experience of the UK in improving teaching in higher education and the experience of universities in Ukraine regarding professional development of teachers; they also discussed what universities need to improve teaching and how national policies will contribute to this process.

During the forum, the British Council presented a new program aimed at developing excellence in teaching and learning in higher education in Ukraine, the implementation of which will take place during 2019-2022.

Partners of the British Council in Ukraine in the implementation of the program is the Institute of higher education NAES (National Academy of Educational Sciences) of Ukraine and Advance HE (UK). The program is implemented with the support of the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine and the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.
