Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Donetsk Mr. Wolfgang Mössinger visited Mariupol State University on June 13, 2016. Mr. Mössinger met with Rector of Mariupol State University, Professor Konstyantyn Balabanov, Vice Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Affairs (International Cooperation), Professor Mykola Trofymemnko and the Head of the Department of German and French Philology, associate professor Yuliia Kazhan. They discussed perspective lines of cooperation between the University and consulates, as well as assistance on the part of German partners in organizing a scientific forum on environmental issues at the premises of the University within the framework of “Clear air for Mariupol” city project.
Yuliia Kazhan informed Mr. Mössinger of effective cooperation between the Department and Goethe Institute as well as of numerous joint projects that allow upgrading the skills of a teaching staff and the quality of teaching German language at MSU respectively.
As the result of the meeting there were determined the main tasks to fulfill in terms of cooperation between Mariupol State University and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in the near future. They included the organization of the Days of German language at MSU on September 2016 and providing specialized departments and scientific library of the university with scientific and instructional materials. Consulate General also considers the possibility to solicit a visit of German lecturer and Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Christof Weil and director of the Goethe Institute in Ukraine Beate Köhler to the University.
