Maria Svetlakova, a senior lecturer of the International Relations and Foreign Policy Department and the director of the EU Information Center at Mariupol State University, visited the EU Networks and European Schools Forum. The event took place on October 3-4 in Kiev within the frameworks of the Informational Support for Youth and EU Networks in Ukraine project of the European Union Mission in Ukraine.
During the forum, more than 200 participants from different regions of Ukraine were able to learn about the opportunities of cooperation with the EU Delegation, in particular, participation in international projects, programs, grants, hear success stories from well-known politicians and experts, share their own experiences and find like-minded people.
The first day of the forum witnessed panel discussions on the topics "Ukraine-EU in the Era of Change" and "European Integration From the Perspective of Professional Activity". The speakers of the first panel discussion were the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, Ambassador Matti Maasikas, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Hanna Novosad, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Oleksandr Yarema.
During his speech, Matti Maasikas noted that one of the main tasks of the EU Delegation is to promote the strengthening of political and economic ties between Ukraine and EU by maintaining an efficient dialogue with governmental agencies and raising awareness about the EU, its institutions and programmes.
The minister of education and science of Ukraine Hanna Novosad reported about plans concerning formulation the Ukrainian educational policy and prospects of cooperation between Ukraine and EU in the field of education and science. Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Oleksandr Yarema emphasized the importance of creating maximum opportunities for young people both abroad and in Ukraine.
The second day of the forum was devoted to the exchange of views and ideas on the further development and improvement of Ukrainian society. The participants discussed joint activities and tools of interaction of EU networks in the fields of non-formal education, culture, promotion of European values, opportunities for establishing interaction with business, local authorities, local communities. Thus, Maria Svetlakova asked about the possibility of cooperation of the EU Information Center with the program "House of Europe" and creation of an art installation in Mariupol on Europe-related topics.
