On May 21, at Mariupol State University, Rector Konstantin Balabanov met with Professor Calliopi Fotiadi, Dean of the Faculty of Law of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and Academic Vyacheslav Komarov, Vice-Rector of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.

Authoritative lawyers arrived in Mariupol to participate at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Legal Doctrine: International Experience and Practical Implementation in Ukraine", which will be held on the basis of the University tomorrow.

During the meeting, the representatives of higher education institutions discussed the prospects of cooperation in the training of highly-qualified lawyers. As a result of fruitful negotiations, a number of important agreements were reached.

The University of Athens as a member of the European Association of Law Schools will contribute to the involvement of this authoritative international organization of Mariupol State University. In addition to the Greek higher education, the association includes world-renowned institutions of higher education, such as: the Humboldt University of Berlin, University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, King’s College London, Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Amsterdam. MSU already has agreements with some of these universities.

MSU has been successfully cooperating with National and Kapodistrian University of Athens for more than 20 years. During the meeting the issues on cooperation between the Faculty of Law and Economics of Mariupol State University and the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens within the frameworks of the program of academic mobility Erasmus + were discussed. In particular, it is planned to sign an agreement on cooperation between the faculties in addition to the already existing agreement concluded between the two universities. A new treaty will provide opportunities for internships for the students of the Faculty of Law of MSU at the Law Faculty of University of Greece. An internship will be available for the students of the majors "Law" and "International Law".
 

MSU has 25 years of experience in training of lawyers. Law students attend lectures of reputable Ukrainian and foreign scholars, authors of textbooks and draft laws, and to improve the practical skills of future lawyers, a Legal Clinic works at the Faculty of Law and Economics to provide free legal assistance to socially vulnerable groups of the population.

In 2019 Mariupol State University opened a unique program "International Law" for Mariupol and Donetsk Region. The intention to support the development of a new major was expressed by Professor Calliopi Fotiadi, and academic Vyacheslav Komarov.
