Tetyana Marena, Associate Professor of the Economics and International Economic Relations Department of Mariupol State University took part in the conference «Formation of a Sustainable Future of Internationalization of Higher Education», which took place in Toronto, Canada from June 24 to June 25.
The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, the Center for the Study of Canadian and International Higher Education, Humber College are the arrangers of the science event. One of the members of the organizing committee of the conference was Nadezhda Kachynska, MSU graduate of the major «International Relations», a doctoral student of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
The conference brought together 175 scholars, practicing specialists, politicians and students from 20 countries of North America, Europe, Asia and Africa to discuss the state of internationalization of higher education worldwide, to develop ways and directions for its sustainable development in the future. The event's program included plenary speeches and sessions in the format of round tables, workshops, presentations of the results of individual research.
Worldwide renowned scientists, authors of numerous scholarly papers on higher education internationalization, Jane Knight, professor of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, professor of the University of Johannesburg, Professor Ka-Ho Mook, vice president of the University of Linnan (Hong Kong, China), Professor Chika Trevor Sehul, Dean of the Faculty of Education of the University of Pretoria (South Africa) made speeches during the conference.
Within the frameworks of the section «Institutional Responses for Internationalization» Tetyana Marena delivered a report «Internationalization of Higher Education as a Factor for Enhancing the Competitiveness of the University». She presented the results of the study of the impact of internationalization on the competitiveness of higher educational institutions on the examples of several European universities, in particular MSU.
The level of organization and holding of the conference is really impressive. The event was remembered by the rich program, bright reports, fruitful discussions, unique international group of participants and unique scientific atmosphere. The conference provided an opportunity to critically analyze many of the topical issues, opportunities and threats associated with the internationalization of higher education, generate new ideas for the formation and implementation of internationalization strategies, both at the institutional and national levels. As for me, participation in this event has become an invaluable experience, for which I am very grateful to the organizing committee of the conference and the leadership of the MSU,

At the final meeting, the participants focused on the most topical issues of modern higher education, in particular on the place of Canada in the global educational space, trends in attracting foreign students, the impact of geopolitical realities on the internationalization of higher education.
