On February 17th, Mariupol State University was visited by the delegation from the Republic of Lithuania. Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Marius Janukonis, member of the Saeima of the Republic of Lithuania (Lithuanian Prime Minister 2008-2012) Andrius Kubilius, member of the Saeima of the Republic of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, political analyst Alvydas Medalinskas, accompanied by people's deputy of Ukraine Igor Artiushenko arrived to Mariupol State University to discuss the issues of cooperation in the field of education, science and culture with the administration of university as well as to meet with students.
Rector of Mariupol State University, Professor, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Mariupol, Kostyantyn Balabanov gave a tour of the university. He demonstrated the guests the results of University's successful international activities: the EU Information Center, the Institute for Ukrainian-Greek Friendship and Hellenic Studies, The Library of Hellenistic Studios "Konstantinos Leventis", and the Italian Cultural Center. Also, the guests visited the Museum of History and Archeology of Mariupol State University, established on university's anniversary.
Recently Mariupol State University has been a focus of attention for foreign diplomats, which allowed organizing the highest level meetings. Moreover, University has already received the guests from Lithuania. In 2016, the MSU hosted the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Linas Antanas Linkavičius. The Minister spoke to teachers and students, answered the questions about the European integration of Ukraine and further support of our country.
Within the framework of the Days of Euro-Atlantic Security in Ukraine an educational seminar was held at Mariupol State University in April 2016. It was organized by the Lithuanian Embassy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Marius Janukonis personally.
Also, Egidijus Kabašinskas, Milda Goštautaitė and Žydrūnas Marcinkevičius, the representatives of the Lithuanian Riflemen's Union, a voluntary public civil defense organization met with students and teachers of Mariupol State University. Responding to students' questions, Lithuanian guests told how to how to hold a patriotic campaign in times of economic troubles, how to fight corruption activities of the authorities and how Riflemen's Union opposes pro-Russian activists in Lithuania.
This meeting was a pleasant surprise for the students of Mariupol State University. Foreign visitors talked about specific projects in Lithuania aimed at supporting Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, as well as shared their experience of conducting economic reforms, and then responded to students' questions.
