The EU Career Day: young professionals learnt new perspectives of employment in Mariupol

On April 24th, Mariupol State University hosted the EU Career Day organized by the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, information center of MSU in Mariupol and non-governmental organization “Foundation “Open Society”, with the assistance of the Internship Management and Graduate Employment Department of MSU.

Approximately 30 employers participated in this event. They presented local government authorities, banks, legal firms, service companies, non-governmental organizations and charitable funds. Career Days allowed them talking about existing vacancies and to speak to candidates.

Young people in their turn had an opportunity to apply for internship, be interviewed, gain valuable knowledge and skills by attending presentations, discussions, and trainings. In general, the EU Career Day was attended by approximately 400 persons.

 

During the official opening ceremony the guests were greeted by Rector of MSU, Professor, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus to Mariupol Kostyantyn Balabanov, secretary of the city council of Mariupol Stepan Makhsma, Consul General of the Hellenic Republic to Mariupol Eleni Georgopoulou, project coordinator of the Information Support of Young People and the EU Networks in Ukraine project of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Iryna Dyba. They emphasized the importance of such projects aimed at facilitating the employment of youth.

 

The schedule of the EU Career Day included a panel discussion of the opportunities for Mariupol youth career advancement which was held with the participation of Vice-Rector for International Relations of MSU, Professor Mykola Trofymenko, alumni of the EU Study Days project Oleksandra Rabchevka and Bohdan Rabchevskyi, students of MSU and Mariupol schoolchildren.

 

Presentation “How to win a grant for education, teaching or exchange under ERASMUS+ program” conducted by individual mobility manager of the program Kateryna Zhdanova.

 

Youth had also an opportunity to attend training conducted by the associate professor of the Practical Psychology Department of MSU Liliya Tyschenko “Psychological aspects of individual professional self-presentation as a factor of competitiveness of professionals” or to play a financial business game “Life Capital” conducted by member of non-governmental organization “International Academy of Humanitarian Sciences” Larysa Petrova.

 

The EU Career Day is held at Mariupol State University for second year in a raw within the framework of project “The EU: Ukrainian youth’s choice” aimed at promoting the dissemination of information about the EU and euro integration processes of Ukraine.
