The first meeting of the participants of "Mariupol Space for Peace" Project took place at the premises of Mariupol State University

On September 14-16, at the premises of Mariupol State University, there was held a training for participants of the "Mariupol Space for Peace" project, aimed at building an intercultural dialogue. The project is implemented by the Student Scientific and Historical Archaeological Society of Mariupol State University in cooperation with the NGO "Initiatives Platrform "Move", sponsored by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and supported by the UNDP Peacebuilding and Reconstruction Program in Ukraine.

The training was conducted by the Associate Professor of the Department of Historical Sciences of Mariupol State University Svitlana Arabadzhy, who heads the Student Scientific Historical and Archaeological Society, along with Oleh Ovcharenko, the facilitator and executive director of the International Public Organization "Fundamentals of Freedom".

 

The initiative group of the project is composed of 30 representatives of different ethnic groups, namely, Ukrainians, Greeks, Germans, Armenians, Karachays, Azerbaijanis, Russians, as well as participants of Moldovan and Italian origins. About half of the participants are students of Mariupol State University majoring in history, journalism and international relations.

 

During the training, the members of the initiative group learned how to construct a dialogue, got familiarized with the principles of interviewing and displayed their organizational and creative skills. And at coffee breaks they also got to try the national cuisine of the Greeks of the Pryazovia.
