On October 30 the presentation “Federal lands of Germany: common and distinctive features” was held within the frameworks of the weeks of Germany in Ukraine on the Faculty of Foreign Languages Department of Mariupol State University. German and French Philology Department arranged this event, which held in the form of festival fair.
The MSU students who study German as the first and second foreign language presented the traditions of German federal lands in the form of bright posters, organized the degustation the dished of German cuisine of different German federal lands, such as: pretzel, strudels, berliners, Christmas cookies, sausages, stewed cabbage.
As the head of German and French Philology Department of MSU, the Associate Professor Yulia Kazhan said, students, having worked with the material on the topic of the event, came to the conclusion that German federal lands have both common and distinctive features.
“The differences, for instance, concern to the school educational system: in Berlin, for example, pupils study at primary school for 6 years at a time when in Munich 4 ones. Also the school subjects can be different. Germany is also known for its dialects: it doesn’t mean that the representatives of North lands can understand the Bavarians, if both will speak on dialect. But Germans are the unified nation, known in the world by its punctuality, love for order and hard work”,

The weeks of Germany are already been holding in Ukraine and tomorrow vice consul of FRG Peter Schmal and the lecturer of DAAD Olaf MittelstraĂź will come at the Faculty of Foreign Languages Department.
