On June 11, The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko visited MSU. Within the framework of the working visit, the President met with instructors, staff members and students of Mariupol State University.
The President of Ukraine was welcomed by the “Greeting” dance performed by MSU folk dance group called “Promin”. After getting acquainted with talented youth, an honored guest, accompanied by Professor Olena Bulatova, who temporarily exercised the duties of the Rector of MSU, visited the most important parts of university’s infrastructure which are as follows: the Library of Hellenistic Studios "Konstantinos Leventis", the Institute of Ukraine - Greece Friendship and Hellenic Studies and Italian Culture Center.
The President met with MSU staff and students in the assembly hall. In his speech he also thanked Mariupol people for their cordial welcome and an extraordinary atmosphere of unanimity and cooperativeness which is spread all over the city. Mr. Poroshenko has also underlined that the modern generation of students has all the chances of living in a prosperous European country and also wished everybody the only important thing for today, which is peace.
Also, the Head of the State has represented a new governor of the Donetsk region - Pavlo Zhebrivskyi.
At the end of the meeting, Olena Bulatova thanked Mr. Poroshenko, because for our university it was an honour to meet such an honorable guest. The head of the student council of MSU Natalia Solonets gave Mr. Poroshenko a souvenir - a doll dressed in national Ukrainian costume, which has been sewn by the students of the university.
