From September 11 to September 12, Eleni Griva, Professor of Applied Linguistics from the University of Western Macedonia have open lectures at Mariupol State University, on "Content-Language Integrated Learning: An Innovative Intercultural Approach to Teaching Language as Second/Foreign one". 

During the classes, students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of Greek Philology and Translation of MSU got acquainted with the methodology, which provides the study of non-linguistic subjects in foreign languages, the development of logical and abstract thinking and the ability to combine acquired knowledge with the expression of their thoughts in foreign language. Also, the participants learned about exercises that train the skills of speaking, writing, reading, listening within this methodology.
 

Eleni Griva attended MSU under the Erasmus+ Academic Mobility Program under a cooperation agreement between the University of Western Macedonia, the Democritus University of Thrace and Mariupol State University. She is a reputable scholar and author of a series of Greek language textbooks. Eleni gives lectures to students and provides advanced training for language teachers in Greece, Albania, Canada and other countries. She has developed an effective second/foreign language teaching methodology that is presented worldwide.

While at MSU, Eleni Griva met with the leadership of the University and the Faculty of Foreign Languages, professors and discussed the prospects for developing cooperation. Among other things, arrangements have been made to engage MSU teachers in lecturing at the University of Western Macedonia, to conduct joint scientific research in developing and further introduction of innovative methods of teaching foreign languages.

Also the possibilities of cooperation of Erasmus+ and secondary educational institutions, in particular, provision of technical equipment and teaching materials for elementary schools, which will enhance the skills of foreign language teachers from all over the city were discussed at the city level.
