By tradition, Mariupol State University joined the Week of the Italian language in the world, which this year fell on 21-27 October. The Italian Philology Department and students studying Italian prepared a number of events united by the topic "Italian on stage".
During the week, students studying Italian and Italian culture fans attended informative lectures, interesting presentations and exciting film screenings. The upper-year students even tried themselves as actors presenting the audience with their own vision of the correct behavior of modern youth in the theater.
From the head of the cultural and educational work sector of the scientific library of MSU Daryna Dunuk students learned about the creative duel between the Venetian playwrights Carlo Gozzi and Carlo Goldoni. Senior lecturer Alina Grachova familiarised the youth with the Italian theater in the era of the Risorgimento – the struggle of the Italian people for national independence, freedom and unification of the country. Third-year student Polina Borysenko in an interactive form reported about the most famous theaters in Italy and the history of the Italian mask.
Every day, MSU Italian cultural centre held screenings of the topic-related feature films in Italian. Thus, fans of classical cinema watched the comedy "The Mistress of the Inn" (La Locandiera") with Adriano Celentano in the leading role, the comedies with Sophia Loren "Poverty and nobility" ("Miseria e Nobiltà") and "Marriage Italian Style" ("Matrimonio all'italiana") as well as modern films" Choice "("La Scelta") and "The Last Will Be the Last" ("Gli ultimi saranno ultimi").
On October 29, the ХІХ Week of the Italian language in the world will also witness the premiere of eco-play "Il cestino dimenticаto" by Franco Zeffirelli played by the students majoring in Italian. The performance raises crucial problems of our time: environment conservation and waste sorting.
