On March 3 - 6, Mr. Gary Cook, Professor of Economics, Dean of the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting (Management School, University of Liverpool) paid a visit to Mariupol State University at the invitation of the MSU Department of English Philology. This famous British scientist visited Mariupol for the first time.
During the visit, he held lectures, scientific and methodological workshops and met with Rector of Mariupol State University, Professor, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Cyprus to Mariupol Kostyantyn Balabanov. In the course of the negotiations they agreed on a perspective of signing an Agreement on cooperation between MSU and the University of Liverpool in order to strengthen academic ties and develop cooperation aimed at exchange of experience. The workshops of Professor Cook were held at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of MSU and attended by faculty members of the English Philology Department and senior students majoring in English Language and Literature. The workshops were aimed at discussing international experience in the field of educational curriculum, getting acquainted with innovative methods of learning and gaining knowledge regarding their implementation. Professor Cook also held a master class on teaching the local dialect of Liverpool and answered questions from teachers and students. On March 4, Professor Cook held an open lecture Global Strategy: Economic and Institutional Approaches; Ethics in International Context for students majoring in International Economics and International Relations. The lecture was delivered in English. Upon completing Professor noted that MSU students have a broad outlook and quite fluently speak English, which indicates the high level of teaching foreign languages at the University. Finally Professor Cook expressed his hopes to meet with MSU students once again. | |
