A large-scale medical conference was held in MSU

On June 22nd, at Mariupol State University was held a scientific conference “Modern problems of gastroenterology”. More than 120 medical scientists from Mariupol, Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa, Zaporizhzhia, Lyman and other cities discussed the latest methods of diagnosis and digestive system diseases treatment.

The organizers of the conference were the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Department of Health of Donetsk Regional State Administration, the Health Care Department of Mariupol City Council, the Donetsk Regional Department of the Ukrainian Gastroenterology Association, Mariupol State University, Donetsk National Medical University, Ukrainian Civic Organizations “Pancreatologists Club” and “Dietitian Association of Ukraine”.

 

Konstyantyn Balabanov, the rector of Mariupol State University, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in Mariupol, Kseniia Sukhova, Deputy Mayor of Mariupol and Svitlana Makarova, Head of the Health Care Department of Mariupol City Council, welcomed the participants at the opening ceremony.

 

The Rector emphasized a great practical and scientific significance of the event, aimed at exchanging experience and increasing knowledge in the field of gastroenterology. He also noted that MSU pays particular attention to the training of specialists who will participate in raising a healthy nation. Students majoring in Secondary education, Physical Culture, Preschool Education and Practical Psychology study medical disciplines.

 

"Gastroenterology is a medical and undoubtedly basic problem, but it is also a social problem, since numerous patients diagnosed with these diseases are the people of working age, and subsequently it decreases the quality of life. Consequently, as Svitlana Makarova noted, the more effective methods of observation, prevention, treatment of diseases, and active introduction of medical and surgical methods will be introduced, the more effective medical and social assistance will be provided. – There`s a lot of work to be done, especially now, when we are on the active stage of primary health care reform. Considering that both patients and doctors are equally responsible, we have great chances to prevent these diseases. "

 

The head of Health Care Department also added that it was the first time for the past 10 years that a conference of such high-level and direction was held. She also expressed her gratitude to the university administration for the support in its organization.

 

The conference was attended by leading Ukrainian specialists in the field of gastroenterology, namely: professor Nataliia Huberhrits (Odessa), the president of the Ukrainian club of pancreatology, the Doctor of Medical Sciences; professor Igor Khomiak (Kyiv), the Honored Doctor of Ukraine, the surgeon of the highest qualification category, the Doctor of Medical Science; Professor Vadim Teroshyn (Kharkiv), infectious disease doctor, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Andrii Dorofeev (Kiev), gastroenterologist of the highest qualification category, the Doctor of Medical Sciences, associate professor Oleksii Ahibalov (Zaporizhia), gastroenterologist of the highest qualification category, the Candidate of Medical Sciences, associate professor Oleg Shvets (Kyiv), the Candidate of Medical Sciences and others.

 

Associate professor Liudmyla Barava, the head of the Practical Psychology Department of Mariupol State University, made a report "Psychosomatic well-being as a factor of the person's viability".

 

Those who participated in the conference received certificates at the end of it.
