A Trip to Greece Thrills MSU Students and Faculty Members

MSU students and faculty members visited one of the largest centers of tourism in Greece – the City of Katerini. This vacation which lasted from June 27 to July 7 brought them a lot of vivid memories and impressions.

The trip was organized by Consulate General of Greece in Mariupol, Federation of Greek Societies of Ukraine and “Charity Foundation I.I.Savvidis” which covered all the expenses.

It was a kind of encouragement for active and initiative students of Mariupol State University. 11 best representatives from all University faculties who study Greek or have Greek origins were able to improve their knowledge of the Greek language and culture.

MSU student Victoria Rostova shared her emotions ‘In spring I couldn’t even imagine that this year I would be able to visit this beautiful country! Stunning nature, clear sea, mountains, delicious food and friendly residents - I will remember this vacation forever! We learned a lot about the culture of Greece, its traditional dances and songs. In short, we enjoyed bright emotions, experiences and good mood to the fullest extent!’

Students and teachers were provided with all facilities for a comfortable stay. They lived in rooms with full board on the coast of the Aegean Sea. Rich cultural and educational program included teambuilding and personal growth trainings, lessons of Greek, dancing and singing activities.

Ukrainian teachers and youth were warmly greeted in Greece. They visited the island of Skiathos and its "Golden Sands" beach; Meteora, one of the largest monasteries in Greece famous for its unique location on the rock tops; thermal resort of Loutra Pozar; the city of Edessa with its impressive waterfalls, numerous canals, bridges and parks; and Greek metropolis of Thessaloniki.

‘Our trip to Greece left a bright and warm impression. From the very first day we learned what Greek hospitality means’ says MSU student Denis Minin. ‘Wonderful accommodation and friendly staff helped us feel at home. 10 days passed like a flash. Almost all the time we spent sunbathing and swimming in the warm Aegean Sea. We visited attractions and sightseeing tours to the island Skiathos, the famous Greek city of Thessaloniki and even climbed Mount Olympus.’
