After vacations English Speaking Clubs are already open at the Window to America Center

On September 7, the first meetings of English speaking clubs in the 2019-2020 academic year were held at the Windows to America Center, which is based at Mariupol State University.

At the beginning of the meeting, members of the English Speaking Movie Fans Club, led by Yana Panova, Assistant Professor of the Theory and Practice of Translation Department, shared with each other their impressions of the brightest moments of the summer during the game "My three". After that, Yana Panova checked how well the participants remember the vocabulary learned in the last academic year, and those who coped with the task received encouraging prizes from the Window to America Center.


The first movie the members of the movie club have watched in the new season was is "The Intern" with Robert de Niro, directored by Nancy Meyers. After watching the movie, the audience discussed the problem of employment of the elderly. Also this film inspired attendees to reflect on the issue of parenthood. At the end of the meeting, the members of the English club told about their relatives of respectable age, their way of life and hobbies. 


The members of the English Speaking Club Teens, led by professor of English language Natalya Yukhimenko, a volunteer of the Window to America Center, also shared her impressions of summer vacations while practicing phonetics and vocabulary in English. While looking at funny pictures of the word game, the club members discussed why it is important to learn English and why it is useful to know this language. At the end of the meeting, the volunteer of the center and kids received gifts from the Window to America Center. 


The meetings of English speaking clubs are held twice a month. Anyone who wants to improve their English skills can contact the Window to America Center, which operates on the basis of the University's Scientific Library (Building # 2, 1st Floor), in person or on Facebook.
