From December 2-4, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv held trainings for trainers on writing educational programs within the framework of the international project Erasmus+ "Journalistic education for democracy in Ukraine: development of standards, integrity and professionalism".
The Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Mass Communications of Mariupol state University, Professor Svitlana Bezchotnikova and Associate Professor of the Social Communications Department Olena Melnykova-Kurhanova took part in the educational events.
The trainings were conducted by Professor of the Institute of Art, Design and Technology of Dan Leary (Ireland) David Queen. The aim of the training was to train personnel to improve the curricula in journalism in ten Ukrainian universities-participants of the Erasmus+project.
During the trainings, the participants discussed the consistency of the European and National qualifications framework as well as National standards in the major. At this stage, MSU presented analytical materials of self-analysis on the activities of the Social Communications Department on the training of journalists.
In March 2020, the Department will present English-language versions of bachelor's and master's programs in journalism which will be evaluated by European colleagues and tested for readiness to be introduced into the educational process according to European standards.
Thus, from September 1, 2020, first-year students of the major "Journalism" will be trained according to new educational programs developed according to EU standards and the norms of the European qualifications framework.
