MSU is awarded the Letter of Acknowledgement of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which is the highest state award.
On March 28th Mariupol State University held a solemn ceremony on occasion of being awarded the Letter of Acknowledgement of the Cabinet of Ministers "in recognition of the tangible contribution into development of national education, strengthening of the international authority of Ukraine and training of highly qualified specialists” signed by Nikolay Azarov, Prime Minister of Ukraine (Resolution of the Cabinet of Minister of Ukraine № 22525 dated of December 28th, 2011).
The award ceremony was attended by Andrey Shishatskyi, Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration, and Professor Kostyantyn Balabanov, Rector of Mariupol State University, Corresponding Member of National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and Consul Honorary of the Republic of Cyprus in Mariupol.
In his speech, Andrey Shishatskyi emphasized that his first visit to MSU in the capacity of Governor of Donetsk Region is caused by an honorary and pleasant mission: delivery of the highest state award to the university. "The University plays an important role in Donetsk Region and it is a landmark of the Azov Sea region. MSU is known as an educational and cultural center. Besides – what is even more important – it is the center of public democracy”, said Andrey Shishatskyi.
Congratulations and best wishes addressed to the University’s administration and teaching staff were heard from the honorary guests: Yuryi Khotlubey, City Mayor of Mariupol, Alexey Belyi, MP of Ukraine and Head of the local organization of the Party of the Regions in Mariupol, and Sergey Matvienkov, First Director Executive and Chief Engineer of the Ilyich Iron & Steel Works plc.
The Letter of Acknowledgement of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is the highest state award meant to acknowledge the achievements and the merits of the teaching staff. Mariupol State University is thus far the only university in Donetsk Region that has deserved this highest award.
