The International Student Online Olympiad in foreign languages was held at the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, which was attended by young people from Mariupol State University.
The university was represented by Vladyslav Synieok, a student of “System Analysis”, Anastasiia Marchenko, a student of “Philology. Language and Literature (English)” and Olha Haidarova, a student of "Philology. Translation and Interpreting (English)”.
More than 100 students from 24 universities in six countries attended the event. The Olympiad is traditionally held to increase motivation for learning foreign languages and the culture of other countries.
Young people demonstrated their knowledge of English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. The Olympiad consisted of two rounds: listening and speaking on a given topic.
Vladyslav Synieok won first place in English at the International Olympiad. Anastasiia Marchenko and Olha Haidarova win third place in the German language competition.
I started learning English in primary school and it has been an integral part of my life ever since. When the opportunity to take part in the Olympiad came up, I agreed straight away because it was a great opportunity to improve my language skills. The most interesting part of the event for me was the speaking test. This type of task allows you to reach your full linguistic potential and answer questions without limiting yourself in your thinking.
The distance format allowed for a better focus on the tasks, but even so, there was fierce competition as students from around the world took part in the event. The International Olympiad is a chance to show my skills and get some incredible excitement, and I'm ready to take part in similar events in the future,
– Vladyslav Synieok.
Congratulations to the students and best wishes for more victories!
