The International Day of Francophonie was celebrated at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Mariupol State University
The International Day of Francophonie was celebrated on March 20 at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Mariupol State University. The event was attended by MSU students and schoolchildren of secondary education institutions of Mariupol studying French.
The festive atmosphere also settled this day at the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Senior Lecturer of Mariupol State University, candidate of Philological Sciences Nataliia Loskutova and of first-fourth year students majoring in Language and Literature (French) prepared interesting questions for the participants of the Quiz on Francophonie and its Features, and Mariupol schoolchildren prepared a special concert program. They sang songs by popular French singers such as Dalida, Charles Aznavour, ZAZ, Vanessa Paradis, Jordana, recited poems by famous French poets Victor Hugo and Jacques Prévert and presented mini-plays.
A pleasant surprise for schoolchildren and teachers was the meeting with French-speaking students from Cameroon who study at Mariupol State University. Young Cameroonians took part in the celebration and gladly talked with the Mariupol youth answering their questions. Schoolchildren asked in French if Cameroon students like Ukraine, its cuisine, which music they listen to and what they do in their spare time.
At the end of the event, the participants expressed their wish to meet again at the University next year to celebrate the International Day of Francophonie.
