Training “Gender analysis as the instrument of the efficient activity” for the deputies of city and village councils
On May, 29 in the large hall of Mariupol city council there was carried out the training “Gender analysis as the instrument of the efficient activity” within the frames of the project “Equal women’s participation in the decision taking process (under the materials of Ukrainian Northern Priazovye)”. The organizers were the Gender research and education center of Mariupol state university, non-governmental organization “Mariupol gender center” in cooperation with the project of the United Nations Development Programme “Support of the national gender mechanism implementation” and with the assistance of the international organization “Ukrainian Women’s Fund”. The trainer was the expert of the United Nations Development Programme on gender issues Natalya Kurganovskaya.
More than 20 deputies of Mariupol city and village councils took part in the training. There were discussed the issues of the efficiency increase of decision taking process, the notions of gender appraisement, gender distinction and gender equality taking into account the polyethnical peculiarities of the region.
The practical result of the training was the recommendation for work with “The gender appraisement handbook” that had been published especially for local administration bodies of Mariupol city and deputy corps of the region.
The aim of the project “Equal participation of women in the decision taking process (under the materials of Ukrainian Northern Priazovye)” that has been realizing from February up to July, 2012 is the advancement of gender equality in the decisions of Mariupol city power through the consideration of position peculiarities, needs and interests of gender groups of population, gender balance guarantee in the protection and advancement of political, economical and social right of the region population.
